Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026Effective 26 September 2026
Why we have this policy
Viremail is shared infrastructure. One abusive account can get our servers blocked by other providers and harm everyone's mail delivery. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.
Spam and bulk mail
- Do not send unsolicited commercial or bulk email. Follow our Anti-Spam Policy.
- Do not use purchased, rented, scraped or harvested address lists.
- Do not try to get around sending limits, for example by using several accounts or aliases. Viremail is a personal and business mailbox, not a bulk-mailing platform.
Phishing, fraud and malware
- Do not send phishing messages or try to collect other people's passwords, payment details or personal data by deception.
- Do not send or link to viruses, ransomware, spyware or other malicious code.
- Do not use the service for scams, fraud or money laundering.
Illegal and harmful content
- Do not store or send content that is illegal in the United Kingdom, including child sexual abuse material, which we will report to the relevant authorities.
- Do not promote terrorism or violent extremism, or incite violence.
- Do not infringe copyright, trade marks or other people's rights.
Harassment and impersonation
- Do not harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone.
- Do not impersonate another person or organisation, or forge message headers to hide who you are.
- Do not send messages to people who have clearly asked you to stop.
Chat and calls
- Do not use chat or calls to send spam, repeated unwanted calls, or abusive content.
- Do not record other people on calls without their knowledge where the law requires consent.
- Do not use calls to share illegal content.
Security and system abuse
- Do not try to access accounts, systems or data you are not authorised to access.
- Do not probe, scan or test our systems except under our responsible disclosure rules.
- Do not overload the service, run automated sign-in attempts, or interfere with other users.
- Do not create accounts in bulk or by automated means.
Enforcement
If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may, depending on how serious it is:
- send you a warning;
- limit or pause sending from your account;
- remove specific content or block specific messages;
- suspend your account;
- close your account permanently;
- report illegal activity to the appropriate authorities.
We may act immediately where there is a risk of serious harm, or to protect the service's reputation with other mail providers. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you what we did and why. If you think we made a mistake, contact us at [email protected] and we will review it.
Reporting abuse
To report abuse from a Viremail account, contact us at [email protected]. Please include the full message headers (use "Show original") where possible.
Copyright and other rights
If you think something shared through Viremail, such as a public Drive link, a Deck, a form or a message, uses your work or your trade mark without permission, contact us at [email protected]. Please tell us:
- who you are and how we can reach you;
- the work or mark you own, and the link or content you are complaining about;
- why you believe the use is not allowed, and that the information in your notice is accurate.
We will look at every notice, may remove or disable the content, and will tell the person who shared it so they can respond. We close the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.
Business domains
Draft for legal review. This part describes Business Viremail and does not apply until it has been approved and published.
Mail from a business’s own domain has these limits, to protect delivery for everyone:
| Period | Per domain | Per mailbox |
|---|---|---|
| During the free month and a domain’s first 14 days | 200 per hour | 60 per hour |
| On a paid plan | 1,000 per hour | 300 per hour |
- The domain must keep the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records we ask for.
- Do not send to bought, rented or scraped lists. Bulk mail must reach only people who agreed to it, and Send to a list adds a one-click unsubscribe to every message.
- We may lower the limits for, or pause sending from, a domain whose mail is reported as spam, and we will tell its owner why.
Business pages, review requests and invoices
Draft for legal review. This part describes Business Viremail and does not apply until it has been approved and published.
Business pages, review requests and invoices reach people outside your business, so they have their own rules.
- Business pages must be about your own real business. Do not pretend to be another business, brand or person; do not use a page for scams, phishing, illegal goods or services, hate or adult content; and do not link to pages that do.
- Review requests must go to every paying customer alike. Do not ask how happy someone is first and only send the happy ones on (review gating), do not offer anything in return for a review, and do not write or buy fake reviews. The US Federal Trade Commission’s rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR Part 465), the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 and the review sites’ own policies forbid these.
- Invoices must be for real sales. Do not use Billing to send false invoices or payment requests, or to take payments for anyone else.
We may hold, hide or remove a page, pause review requests or Billing, or close a business that breaks these rules. How we handle reports about business pages, and how to appeal, is in our reports and takedown policy.
